He pointed and said, Not a Game

“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12, NIV.

At the half time program of a basketball game, a young lady came to center court to sing. Her revealing dress made me so uncomfortable that I quickly averted my gaze. As I was looking away I caught the eye of my friend who had recently become a follower of Jesus, but had grown up with a Muslim background.

He smiled at me, pointed at the girl, and mouthed, “Christian.”

Due largely to Western media, the message of Hollywood is equated to the standards of Christianity in the minds of many Muslim people. So if a woman is not modestly dressed then she is seen as loose, immoral, or sadly, as “Christian.”

Pray that:

Stereotypes of what it means to be “Christian” will be overcome by the faithful, consistent witness of followers of Jesus living in the many Muslim communities of Pacific Rim.

Believers living in Pacific Rim will understand that their lifestyle is being watched by their Muslim neighbors and that they will live lives worthy of the gospel.
